Bye Blogmas, it’s been real

December 25th is here, which means Blogmas has officially come to an end. I decided to post this last post today rather than yesterday in the spirit of Christmas. I wanted people to be spending time with the people they love, not necessarily reading a blog post.

It’s been real you guys

I didn’t really have a lot of expectations for posting once a day for 25 days straight – I had never done Blogmas before.

But I’ve really enjoyed doing it!

The back story to why I even decided to participate in the first place was a pretty random choice. I think it was sometime around mid-November where I began thinking of all the YouTubers I watch that were gearing up to post vlogs daily for Vlogmas. I just thought about how it’s something that definitely seems really hard, but it’s also a way to challenge them creatively every day. I’m still just casually making videos for fun, but with my blog, I’ve been doing this for almost a year now, and I wanted something new to do with it.

I also hadn’t been writing as much as I used to, or how much I would have liked to. I love writing, and I used to write a lot when I was feeling stressed or anxious. But ever since summer, I’ve been… good. But I haven’t really learned how to write yet while feeling happy. That might sound totally weird, but it’s just what I’ve come to find to be the truth.

So that one day in November I was just like “what the hell, let’s do this” and decided to do Blogmas!

Things I Learned

First and foremost, I found out how to write when I’m feeling happy. Having a goal every day to meet definitely pushed me even when I had huge writers block. It pushed me to create new ways to get inspired, and to really dig deep sometimes and come up with something new. I loved challenging myself that way.

Next, also learned that sometimes, you just really need to say “yes” and then figure out the “how” later on. Did I have any clue how I was going to juggle classes, finals, traveling, soccer, and personal life with blogmas? Nope. Did it all work out for the best? YES.

Lastly, I got some more practice in with feeling good enough. So often I find myself not sharing a blog post, or posting a photo, or uploading a video, or something else because I don’t think it’s “good enough”. Which is sometimes a good thing, because occasionally that certain project did need a little more love before it was ready. But like the other 9/10 times, it actually is already SO GOOD, I just either a) doubt myself or b) care what other people think. Newsflash @ myself: no one cares.

Like yes, people care, but like, not NEARLY as much as you think. I really got some good practice in with silencing my negative self talk and instead having a more realistic & positive view on my work. I mean, I’ve been taking so many more photos, shared blog posts I’ve loved, and even posted a video for the first time in forever. Not bad, T, not bad.

A Huge Thank You to YOU

Thank you so so much from the bottom of my heart for taking the time out of YOUR day to come read whatever thoughts pop out of my mind onto this corner of the internet.

As much as blogging is for me, it’s also for you. I really want what I share to inspire both of us, and to just be positive and real.

Something to work on for my personally even more in 2019. 🙂

I’m still going to be posting Blog posts!

What you can expect from here on out are definitely less frequent posts. Something else I learned during these past 25 days is I’d rather focus on quality over quantity, which definitely means I’m going to be posting less blog posts.

In 2019, I plan to make my blog more of a place for thoughts and getting real. Less about beauty stuff, more about struggles and inner thoughts; less about mood boards, more advice on us trying to be your (best) self.

That way, all the more fun & lighthearted things will be in the form of videos. I’m still just having fun and learning with YouTube, trust me, videos are gonna get better! But for now I’m still a beginner, and I have to start somewhere if I ever want to become better and more comfortable with videos.

So, that’s what you can expect from me in the start of 2019.

Lastly, I just want to say thank you one more time for supporting me & reading my blog

I love my little corner of the internet and I hope you do, too.

Much love, Teresa
